Differential Equations for Dyson Processes
We call a Dyson process any process on ensembles of matrices in which the entries undergo diffusion. We are interested in the distribution of the eigenvalues (or singular values) of such matrices. In the original Dyson process it was the ensemble of n×nHermitian matrices, and the eigenvalues describe n curves. Given setsX1, . . . , Xm the probability that for each k no curve passes through Xk a...
متن کاملPolarization Effects in Superdeformed Nuclei
A detailed theoretical investigation of polarization effects in superdeformed nuclei is performed. In the pure harmonic oscillator potential it is shown that when one particle (or hole) with the mass single-particle quadrupole moment qν is added to a superdeformed core, the change of the electric quadrupole moment can be parameterized as qeff = e(bqν + a), and analytical expressions are derived...
متن کاملEnergy density functional approach to superfluid nuclei.
We show that, within the framework of a simple local nuclear energy density functional (EDF), one can describe accurately the one- and two-nucleon separation energies of semimagic nuclei. While for the normal part of the EDF we use previously suggested parametrizations, for the superfluid part of the EDF we use the simplest possible local form compatible with known nuclear symmetries.

متن کاملSuppression of core polarization in halo nuclei
We present a microscopic study of halo nuclei, starting from the Paris and Bonn potentials and employing a two-frequency shell model approach. It is found that the core-polarization effect is dramatically suppressed in such nuclei. Consequently the effective interaction for halo nucleons is almost entirely given by the bare G-matrix alone, which presently can be evaluated with a high degree of ...
